Duping Items

This is a rather easy way to not only improve your money situation but to also increase your Mercantile Skill. (There is a tip on increasing your Mercantile Skill further down on this page)

1. Buy, find, steal, or kill for a bow. You should already have one from the introduction stage of the game.

2. You need to have two different kinds of arrows in you inventory. Most likely you will have steel and iron to begin with.

3. Equip any set of arrows along with the bow.

4. Now when you pull the bow string back, push the B button on the controller while the bow is still back.

5. Switch to the second set of arrows you have in your inventory by pushing the A button twice. You must push the A button twice in order for this to work.

6. Select whatever you want to dupe and push the X button to drop it. There you go.

Here are some important things to know. Not all items can be duped. Certain items take certain types of arrows to dupe them. So for example you need to equip Daedric arrows as the second set of arrows you if want to dupe Daedric weapons or armor. Also the number of the second set of arrows dictates how many duplicates you will get. Have fun making the money. Back to top >

Permanent Bonus’s to your Stats

1. First I recommend completing the Thieves Guild Faction Quests without destroying the Boots of Springheel Jack. That means taking the leap without the boots on.

2. Complete the Collectors quest in the Imperial City. This includes: "Nothing you can Possess" and "Secrets of the Ayleids". I recommend getting both the Nenalata Crown and the Lindai Crown during the "Secrets of the Ayleids" section.

3. Join the Mages Guild and complete most of the quests stopping with "The Bloodworm Helm and the Necromancer's Amulet". You don't want to finish this quest just yet. Get the items but don't give them up.

4. Now find the Shrine of Sanquine. The shrine is located southwest of the Weatherleah estate which is south of Chorrol. Complete the quest wearing the Boots of Springheel Jack, either the Nenalata Crown or Lindai Crown, and the Necromancer's Amulet. (Don't worry, after you cast the spell all of your belongings are in a chest at the Shrine of Sanguine.) Check out your stats. Yes you can wear the Cowl you get when you become the Guild Master of the Thieves Guild but good luck. The downside is that you can no longer equip the items you were wearing but who the hell cares. Intelligent Leveling

I thought I should add this before I tell you the fast ways to improve your skills. To get the most out of your character you’re going to want to use what I call intelligent leveling. Basically it breaks down like this. Pick 3 physical attributes you want to improve each level. For example you could pick Strength, Intelligence, and Agility. Now focus on skills that will improve those specific physical attributes while trying not to use the others. Just remember, if blade is a primary skill for you, you will only need to improve in that skill 5 times. The reason for that is because 5 is the max you can add to any physical attribute each time you level. If blade is a secondary skill, you will need to improve it 10 times. 10 levels in a secondary skill equal 5 levels of a primary skill. Your physical attributes and skills that affect them are as follows:

Strength: Blade, Blunt, Hand-to-Hand.

Intelligence: Alchemy, Conjuration, Mysticism

Willpower: Alteration, Destruction, Restoration

Agility: Block, Marksman, Sneak

Speed: Acrobatics, Athletics, Light Armor

Endurance: Armorer, Block, Heavy Armor

Luck: None

Personality: Illusion, Mercantile, Speechcraft Back to top >

Sneak Skill

1. Grab a rubber band

2. Go to the Arcane University. As you enter into the lobby look to the left to find two benches that are in the shadows.

3. Crouch down and place yourself in one of the corners.

4. Put the rubber band around the left side of your controller so that the toggle stick will stay pushing forward.

5. Go play CS:S or neotokyo (if it's out) to pass the time.

6. Move the look toggle stick on the controller occasionally so that your controller doesn't shut off. The reason you go to the university's lobby is because someone is usually there and you need someone there to make your Sneak Skill improve. Back to top >

Agility Skill

1. Find a nice, friendly lake to take a swim in. You can find a nice safe lake in several of the towns.

2. Use the rubber band trick on the controller but this time; make sure your character doesn't drown. Back to top >

Heavy Armor Skill, Light Armor Skill

1. Go to the Elven Garden District of the Imperial City.

2. Go down into the sewers in that area. Just look at your map and you should find it. The entrance will be obvious.

3. Find a rat and let him start hitting you. Rats do little damage, so with some healing spells, health potions, and cure disease potions you will be fine. If not go sit in a corner. Back to top >

Acrobatics Skill

1. Go inside the Fighters Guild in Chorrol.

2. Go up the stairs to the second level where you will find three beds up against a wall.

3. Go to the head of one these beds. While running forward against the corner of a bed and the wall start pushing the jump button. Don't worry about your stamina depleting because it doesn't play a factor in leveling the Acrobatics Skill. The only trick here is to try and push the Y button as fast as possible to increase the skill. It's hard to believe that people think you don't get a work out playing video games. Back to top >

Magic Leveling

You should already know that you can continuously cast a spell in whatever magic school you want to increase the corresponding skill. I would suggest that you cast the spell until your magicka is gone. Then sleep for 1 hour. By sleeping you will restore your magicka and save the game. Now, I will tell you how to do it faster.

1. Equip a shield and a melee weapon.

2. Pull the left trigger so that you are blocking. While doing this keep your weapon sheathed.

3. Cast a low level spell in whatever magic skill area you are trying to increase. Here is the best part; you can time it so that right after your hand goes down from casting the spell cast it again. Sometimes it's easier to tell this in the third person view. In the third person view wait for the upper arm to be even with the shoulder, making an L, then cast the spell again. This will save you a lot of time.

IMPORTANT

For these next Tips & Tricks, I recommend you complete the first half of the Dark Brotherhood Faction Quest. Finish the Lucien Lachance's Quest: "The Purification." As a reward he will give you his trusty horse, Shadowmere. Why is this important? Shadowmere is considered a hero character. Shadowmere cannot be killed, only knocked unconscious. Plus, he won't attack you.

Destruction Skill

This skill will take forever to increase if you just use it fighting thugs and beasts in the game. Thank god you have Shadowmere.

1. Go someplace secluded so that people won't see you throwing fireballs, ice, or lightening at Shadowmere. If they do and you happen to be in the Thieves Guild, you will get a message saying that you have just stolen from a member of the thieves’ guild. Don't ask why.

2. Use the same technique you used to increase your other magic skills by holding block. Timing is a little different but you will find that out when you begin. The reason you are roasting or freezing horse meat is because in order for your Destruction Skill to increase you have to shoot a living beast or person.

Marksmanship Skill, Blade Skill, Blunt Skill, Hand-to-Hand Skill

1. Follow instructions for the Destruction Skill. The only difference is in the timing with the bow. Right when you are shooting your arrow, letting it go, pull the right trigger again. Don't be surprised if you look at your marksmanship during your shooting only to see the skill not increasing. It won't go up until you break your pattern of carefully timed shooting.

2. If you are running low on arrows, just dupe some more. You can also wait until trusty Shadowmere is unconscious and take the arrows out of him. Back to top >

Mercantile Skill (Plus a little, ok a lot of gold)

1. Equip your most expensive weapon, Jump on your trusty horse Shadowmere, and travel to Kvatch.

2. While on Shadowmere, talk to the orc merchant and enter the barter screen.

3. Now sell your equipped weapon. That's right, it will still be there. This allows you to sell it over and over again raising your Mercantile Skill plus giving you some gold. Back to top >
